Prosthesis have had a great impact in our society and have surpassed our expectations of use by far. Imagine not being able to walk, go out with friends, run or swim. Imagine the bullying and laughter that you would endure, the strange looks that people would give you when you are walking down the street, or how in the mornings you are not capable of getting out of bed without help, unable to brush your teeth because you have no balance or arms. Without prosthesis people's life would be extremely difficult for them and the loved ones that take care of them. Lower limb amputations cover about 91.7 percent of amputation surgeries. Organizations such as Veterans Administration and the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association have helped bring better research and financial aid to amputees. Prosthesis has given many people the opportunities get their life back as it was before.
